Amber went online to read about this new super large Barbie flagship store in Shanghai. And she was telling us about her trying to get the special 80's Barbie. I found out it costs 200 bucks btw. Damn. Then funnily enough our lecturer (whos actually pretty young- rides a kick ass yellow bike to college) exclaimed out loud and told us he's gonna let us out early today.
Why?
Cause he's going to go to Times Square to get his large Optimus Prime figurine that can turn into the truck- something he has been searching for all around KL. Around 200 bucks too.
No seriously. He really did just that.
It kind of made me remember how extremely anal i was/am about My Little Pony. Lol. Eh it's not a joke. I love those colorful ponies. They live in this totally 'dreamy' place where the only thing they do is run around, find small ridiculous problems and have another pony solve it for them. Might be teaching young girls to make petty things seem important but gahhhh let the pink and blue ponies do their thang ok.
I'm sure everyone of you went through that stage and still have a soft spot for those old toys. Well... if you buy them now you call them "collectables" hahaha.
Here's the list of a few toys i remember from light years ago. Holler if you remember anything else i missed out.
Girls:
Barbie

Well... let's just say if a girl went through her childhood without owning a single one, you're not actually a girl.
My Little Pony

I admit it wasnt very big here. I remember you couldnt get the figurines here last time before they revamped the ponies and made them to what they look like now. I sadly admit i have a few of them. How manly of me.
Sky Dancers

Lolololol. I remember talking to Emily / Aemilia about this. You put it on that controller thing and it spins and FLIES!! Shut up la it was cool back then. :/
Sailormoon

One of the few japanese franchises from last time that became such a boom. I dont really understand why. :/ Looking at this picture now i realize they have an array of wild coloured hair. It's like my little pony except on humans :O
Boys:
Hot Wheels

Barbie equivalent for boys. Every boy had at least one car. I remember my brother and i had these special ones that changed colour when chilled (so we put them in the fridge). Eh no joke it was so cool.
Transformers

I think they were the hype before our time. I dont know. I dont really remember many kids talking about transformers. But for my lecturer's sake. I think getting a Bumblebee transforming figurine would be awesome though.
Sonic the Hedgehog

Spin around collecting golden rings and then occasionally you get to use tails. Lol. I so remember.
Mario

Dear God. I find the sound effects damn annoying (esp when you shrink). Basically jumping around collecting mushrooms hahaha. You should get a load of the new Mario on Wii. Super reinvented. He has a 3D world now.
Both:

Both:
Tamagotchi
Ragnarok Online

OK not exactly a toy but a game that alot of people were playing religiously. I played too and i kind of miss it :( I remember having a lvl80 girl assassin my friend (who was a guy) would borrow to kau some guys online to give rare items. Amazingly it worked for him. Go figure.
Gunbound
POKEMON

Ok this was like some super SARS/bird flu disease. I played (and finished) the Gameboy game, collected the cards, entered 1 tournament and i still have my cards... somewhere. NO BLASTOISE JOKES you two.
Digimon

Not as big as Pokemon but still big enough. I think they had cards and games etc. I wasnt into it (neither was my brother) so i dont remember much.
Owh jeez stupid blackout. Kautim my poor outdated mac.
Anyway, nighty night.
S.
