....and it all floods back

Yesterday, Valencia had its annual residents meeting at the clubhouse hall. My mum was a commitee member so she asked me to help to stay at the booth while they go on and discuss inside. Went there, learnt stuff by overhearing and had to do it all by myself for 4 hours. Basically get people to fill the forms, get them to pay membership fees, give them copies of the VRA report and write receipts.

I cannot tell you how much i felt like i was in school again. I mean... i was tending to money. Again. Like the 2 treasurer jobs. *shiver* i do still partly miss it. When the real committee treasurer came up to tally the fees i already tallied, he was apparently impressed. (Hello, both my parents are accountants ok)

Anyway, i got the cafe to send up some vanilla shake as an accompaniment and this is basically what i analyzed:
  1. Caucasian men and women do not mind forking out a hundred for membership and attending the meeting. They mostly do it with a "uh? a hundred you say? ok."
  2. Asian ladies also have no qualms about forking out a hundred for the sake of discussing about the community. There was one who said she didnt bring any money but flashed this huge CHANEL wallet in my face and started paying me in 10s. I guess she spent it all on that leather strip of hers.
  3. Asian men. HUH. They either do not want to pay cause they dont believe an 18 year old telling them that the membership fee is annual or they didnt bring their wallet or they just pay without a word (and this is just a select few).

Lol.

A hundred is like a million to asian men during recession.
