Yesterday, something did though. All of us (dad MIA) went to Ikea to look for some stuff and we went in pretty late. We didnt even eat dinner before we entered so you could imagine the time we finally sat down and ate. We dined at Empress opposite Laundry.
Mom: Hey, Denny? Why dont you order a beer?
Denny: What?? Now? No!
Mom: Why?? We're out and everything. Btw, when we go outstation again, the driver is going to be free for you guys to use so you can both go to Laundry or something. Wherever you guys want to go.
Denny: *contemplates going to bar with underaged sister* Er... no i dont think so.
Steph: *speechless*

After that, in the car. Almost 11, mind you.
Mom: Denny, i forgot to tell you. Your father and i bought some new Vodka from our trip to HK. It's on the dining table. We should all try it you know. Steph, you too.
Steph: No no. You know i can't take it.
Mom: Yes, that's why you should start out really diluted first then gradually acquire the taste and increase the dosage.
Denny: Increase dosage?! My God, you sound like you're talking about drugs.

Okay, i thought the conversations were hilarious. I dont think there are that many moms (or parents in general) asking their children to drink... or inviting them to drink the alcohol in the house.
Anyway, i know that im pretty lucky to have liberal parents who dont mind me drinking, provided i dont overdo it. I stay honest with them and tell them anyway if i (historically) do.
Heard alot of things about people going crazy and drinking like mad once they are overseas studying. Since they're away from their parents, they dont really give a damn. I think that's a load of bullshit though. Yeah yeah, so you're free from your overbearing parents and crap but you dont go ahead and down all the vodka till you faint, do you?? That's just stupid.
Funny.... but stupid.
When my parents are in the mood, they dont mind taking us out to drink even, though i dont drink. Someplace swanky too like a hotel, just for us to experience it. They probably want the both of us to be exposed. They're understanding that way. I guess by doing this, they think we'd get over any "curiosity" about bars and just wont rave about alcohol as much. Guess it worked somewhat. Dont know. I never raved about drinking anyway.
My mom said this a while back. I find it kind of insulting like im supposed to be wild or something. (Yeah, like I picked to watch barely legal which you ALL enjoyed) She said she'd imagined me to be the type of person to drink alot while my brother vice versa but in fact, it's actually the opposite. My brother drinks quite abit and mixes them too but doesnt get drunk while i cant even get pass the taste at all.
Ah, whatever. At least i know i will never become an alcoholic. If i do, i promise i'll do anything stupid you want me to do.
