As you know, i never really understood any government ads. Call me unpatriotic if you fancy but seriously, their ads are totally BOGUS. So idiotic! I feel like slapping the directors. Let me digress better:
You know the government has been going on about 1Malaysia and shit- pick songs, watch shows etc etc. I just saw this new ad they screened and i can only guess they wanted the person who watches it to feel "impressed, patriotic, loyal, proud".
I felt like i was in kindergarten.
Well, before that feeling came i didnt even know wtf the ad was about.
Basically this said ad shows an animation of a tree and someone narrating (like a a playhouse disney show) that the tree was 'unhappy' because its parts; the roots, bark and leaves were QUARRELING about which one was more important for its 'survival'. They start mouthing about their pros until a bird comes along to tell them all 3 are important.
And suddenly everyone is happy.
And then they show the 1Malaysia logo.
The end.
W T F .
Omg, can you get any more childish??? I wasnt even watching a kids channel, i was watching OPRAH! Honestly, i felt so stupid. I just wasted several seconds of my life wondering what the hell the ad's point was, only to find out in the stupidest of ways. To digress further, doesnt this remind you of history? Where one of the old civilizations had that tree which explained the importance of their civilization's hierarchy?
Okay, i mean i get that part (i still dont understand the part of the talking tree and bird just to get the point across) but what are they trying to get at when they had the bird flying in, telling everyone how important they are and everyone just ends up happy??
Are you telling me just because of what "ONE" person says we should just accept and live on like nothing happened? Are you saying we dont have brains for ourselves to harmonise with one another, like we need an external body to tell us that working together is a good thing?
C'mon la.
Im sorry but Yasmin Ahmad (rip) must not be happy at all, staring down at us. It's as if we dont have anymore talented directors out there other than her. That or someone is just too lazy so they make some stupid ad without thinking too hard.
Yeah... cannot work too hard just for the ad right? They got so many more things to think about (and not act on) correct?

Sorry, i think 1Malaysia is a good idea (though we've been harmonizing for 52 years already) but just because you advertise it on Ananda Krishnan's channel hub isnt going to suddenly make everyone run out of their houses and start dancing with one another.
Especially after watching a talking tree and bird.
Grow up and do something better for us.
Like synchronize the your damn LRTs, MRTs, whatever Ts.
